A Room with a View

Enlisted to update an executive’s new home, to provide an enchanting space for entertaining, Kari worked off the couple’s extensive travels. The Far East had made the biggest impression, thus an Asian touch enveloped the plan. The open living-dining space was challenging due to the curved wall, with floor to ceiling glass on the others. Several conversation areas were incorporated, yet flow-space was not sacrificed. The curved sofa plays off this, as does the antique mahogany game table. The clients love to read and enjoy the view from this room, thus the pair of chaises, which double as flexible seating when entertaining. A custom cherry wood, granite & marble floor was installed, along with a rug made to simulate Tatami mats. A crackled lacquer dining table with floral gilt added sophistication and warmth to the elevated dining space. A Han earthenware lantern and a collection of Machang & Banshan urns are showcased, as wall space is at a premium.
